Cristina Cojocaru, DO
I began my academic journey at UC Berkeley, where I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. While there, I trained in clinical psychology through two campus-based research labs, gaining experience in both the science of human behavior and the art of compassionate listening. That early immersion in the mind-body connection shaped the foundation of my future in healthcare.
After graduating, I worked in clinical research at Stanford University’s Department of Anesthesiology, contributing to studies focused on pain and recovery. This experience deepened my understanding of how the nervous system, inflammation, and stress impact healing — and inspired me to take a more direct, hands-on role in patient care.
I went on to pursue my medical degree at the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine, where I helped lead the Integrative Medicine Club and became deeply engaged in the philosophy of treating the whole person. It was there that I first saw the power of osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) to relieve pain, restore balance, and help patients reconnect with their bodies — particularly in cases of chronic pain, somatic dysfunction, and nervous system dysregulation.
Following medical school, I completed a community-based family medicine residency through UC Davis in Redding, California. There, I received full-spectrum training — from newborn care to geriatrics, outpatient clinics to inpatient hospital medicine. During this time, I also completed a fellowship in psychiatry for primary care, which deepened my understanding of how mental health, trauma, and emotional state can profoundly influence physical symptoms and chronic pain.
Together, my training in family medicine, osteopathic medicine, and behavioral health has shaped my commitment to a truly integrative, holistic model of care. I believe that healing happens when we listen to the whole person — body, mind, and environment — and support the body's innate capacity for balance and restoration.
